Introducing Fort Smith Chiropractor Dr. Ed Floyd

"I had no idea there was a doctor that did that type of treatment. That was wonderful."
That's what I heard from my wife after her first visit to the chiropractor. After numerous doctors were unable to help and several months had past without finding any relief she visited the local chiropractor. She followed his recommendations and completed the treatments and her health problem was resolved. To think, she didn't even have a bad back!
After seeing the difference chiropractic care made for my wife, and then experiencing my own chiropractic adjustments, I was hooked and determined to learn more about this natural style of health care. Our family chiropractor was very encouraging and was always willing to take time to talk to me about chiropractic. With his encouragement I visited the Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri and I knew after that visit that this was where I was meant to be.
After serving in the Navy, I began my pre-chiropractic education at Southwest Missouri State University (nka Missouri State) in Springfield , Missouri. I completing three years of basic science courses, including inorganic chemistry, biology and physiology. I was accepted at Logan College of Chiropractic, one of the oldest and most respected chiropractic colleges in the United States. During my four years of study at Logan College, the courses included biochemistry, a special emphasis on human anatomy and chiropractic techniques and diagnosis. I graduated from Logan in 1979 with Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees.
I began my first practice in a small retirement community in north Arkansas called Cherokee Village. While there I had 7 years of invaluable experience working with older patients and gained a keen insight to the special health problems they have. Once our children reached a certain age, my wife and I decided it would be best to relocate to an area with a larger, more diverse school system. We wanted to stay in Arkansas so we chose Fort Smith, mostly because of the great reputation of the schools.
My wife, Patti and I have been married for 36 years and have lived in Fort Smith since 1986. Patti is a music educator in the Fort Smith school district and has been teaching here for the last 18 years. We have two children, Mason and Jessica, both raised with the chiropractic lifestyle, which includes regular chiropractic adjustments and rarely taking medications. In fact, Mason had never had an antibiotic until age 17 when he had his wisdom teeth removed.
My love for fishing as a little boy has lead me to learn fly fish for trout and I have even been tying some of my own flies. For me, nothing refreshes my spirit more than standing in my favorite trout stream ,watching the sun come up as the mist rises off the water and playing, then releasing a beautiful trout back to the wild. I'm also a certified scuba diver with several ocean dives (one to 138 feet!) and I enjoy an occasional round of golf, mostly as an excuse to spend time with friends. They will attest to the fact it's not because of the quality of my game.
At our office we love skeptics. We know that many times our patients come to us, almost as a last resort and have no personal experience with chiropractic care. For that reason we offer a complimentary consultation. We feel any prospective patient should have a one on one, private talk with the doctor to see if chiropractic care is the best method to help with their health concerns. We take time to listen and explain everything we do in advance. We also work with a network of other doctors and if we feel that another type of care would be better suited for you we will assist with the appropriate referral.
I also want my patients to know I don't just "talk the talk, I "walk the talk". I exercise regularly, get adjusted frequently and watch my diet. Over the years my workout routine has gone through many changes based on what my body needed at the time. I've used heavy free weight routines and at other times more cardio type workouts. Right now I exercise 4 times each week with 20 to 30 minutes on an elliptical machine, followed by 20 to 30 minutes of machine weight training, decline sit ups and 5 to 10 minutes of stretching.
The point is I can help you make the lifestyle changes that will absolutely change the quality of your life.
Now that you know a bit about me, I would love to learn more about you. How could we help you with today's safe and natural chiropractic care? Give our Fort Smith office a call or email us by using the link at the bottom of any page.
